    Chapter1 – Lost

Thelight was uncomfortably bright;I just wanted to sleep in for a few more minutes. I kept fidgeting toget into a more comfortable position. Shortly after I had to concededefeat, I was awake and I was going to stay awake. I sat up from mybed to find I wasn't lying in a bed at all. I was lying on terrafirma. Thehell? Ithought. At this point growing amounts of panic started their IV dripinto my skull. Wheream I? After afew minutes, or maybe it was hours, (but who can say really?) Icalmed down and began to study my predicament. Well...I'm definitely isolated.I looked around to see a flat desolate landscape, part desert andpart wasteland. Not too much made sense at the moment. I recalledsome vague memory suggesting using the sun and a stick to find yourbearings. The terrain offered up nothing of use to this end, theplain was utterly devoid of anything remarkable in anyway. I removedmy shoe and propped up it vertically with some small stones. I markedthe tip of the shadow with another stone and waited.
