A Moment in Time(4)

By: Stormy Glenn

Next time?

There was going to be a next time?

“Grayson, I don’t—”

Grayson’s hand cupped Apollo’s chin, tilting his head so that their eyes met. “Once again I must beg your forgiveness, mi amore. In my eagerness to have you I neglected to allow sufficient time for us to get to know each other. I hope to rectify that now that we are mated.”

Apollo blinked for a moment before his eyes searched Grayson’s skin, narrowing in on the bite mark on Grayson’s neck, just under all of his hair. Oh man, oh man, oh man. He knew what that was.

A bite mark, binding two wolf-shifters together for life.

Apollo’s fingers fluttered to his own neck, trembling when they brushed over a matching bite mark where his shoulder met his throat. He gulped as he met Grayson’s powerful gaze.

“You’re my mate?”

Chapter 2

Grayson had never felt more satisfaction as he did when he slowly nodded his head, not once breaking eye contact with the man that now held his soul. “Yes, I am your mate and you are mine.”

And Grayson couldn’t be happier about that.

“When did—”

“Last night at the celebration of Ares and Simon’s mating.” Grayson smiled as he ran his fingers along Apollo’s jawline. “I took one look at you and knew you were the other half of my soul, the wolf I would spend the rest of my life with.”

Grayson knew from the widening of Apollo’s eyes that the man hadn’t expected his direct declaration, but he didn’t care. He didn’t even care if he sounded sappy. He had never been this happy before. He felt like he could float right off the floor.

He had found his mate.

“Your eyes are so beautiful, mi corazón. You make my heart ache.”

Apollo’s dark eyebrow slowly rose up, arching over his forehead before his eyes dropped, staring down at hard cock barely concealed by Grayson’s shorts. “I don’t think that’s your heart that is aching, Gray.”

“Gray.” Grayson grinned. “I like that.”

Apollo flushed, his eyes darting away.

Grayson could see that Apollo was embarrassed, and nervous, and confused. But he was also aroused, and that was always a good thing. Grayson could work with aroused. Apollo was hesitant. Grayson had no doubt that he could seduce Apollo to his way of thinking.

Besides, it wasn’t like they had a choice now. They had both accepted the mating bite. Their mating was already a done deal. Now, they just had to learn to live with each other. And if Grayson’s mother had taught him one thing, it was that a way to a man’s heart was through his stomach.

And there was more than one way to seduce a man.

“Hungry?”

“God, yes,” Apollo groaned. “I’m starving.”

Grayson grinned as he turned to grab their breakfast and then carried the plates to the small table near the window on the far side of the kitchen. “You worked up quiet an appetite last night. You need to replenish your energy before I drag you back to bed.”

He sat down in one of the chairs then gestured to the other one, inviting Apollo to join him. “Come sit and eat. I’ll only bite if you ask me to, mijo.”

Apollo’s eyebrows climbed up his forehead, but the man came over and sat down. He stared for a moment, a quizzical expression on his face as if he wanted to ask something but didn’t know how to go about it. But then he grabbed his fork and dug into his food.

Grayson smiled at the satisfied groan that came from his mate at the first bite. Providing for one’s mate was one of the most basic instincts a wolf had. Knowing that he was not only providing for his mate but that Apollo enjoyed the food he created satisfied something deep inside of Grayson.

“I know you have questions, Apollo,” Grayson said as he scooped up a forkful of food. “You can ask me anything. I have nothing to hide from you.” Grayson placed the bite in his mouth, and then watched his mate as he chewed. “And I will never lie to you, even if it makes me look bad.”

“Is there something that will make you look bad?” Apollo asked.

Grayson shrugged. “I try to follow our laws, but I am no angel.”

“Yeah, me either.” Apollo shoveled a bite onto his fork and then paused with it halfway to his mouth. “People see my brothers and me and think we’re invincible, that—”

“You mean you’re not?”

Apollo looked up. “Uh, no.”

“Damn, and here I was looking forward to living forever.” Grayson sighed dramatically, shrugging. “Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to double up on the sex to get as much of it in before we die as we can.”
